TRAINING RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. Dogs must be clean and free of foreign matter and external evidence of parasites.  Those found dirty, etc., will be dismissed by the trainer.
  2. in reference to non-member dogs the following applies:
    1. All dogs must have proof of last vaccinations for DHLPP.  All dogs over six (6) months must have proof of current rabies innoculation, and when booster is due.  Shot records will be kept on all dogs, verified by proof of purchase or a veterinarian certificate.
  3. Handlers are responsible for the actions of their dogs.
  4. Members have the right to counsel handlers to carefully watch their dogs if the dog shows aggressive behavior to any person or dog in the building or on the grounds. A member has the right to excuse a dog if it continues to show aggressive behavior.  Members must report such incidents to the board for review.
  5. Dogs showing signs of illness will be dismissed for the night by the trainer or a member.
  6. A handler must be able to control the dog.
  7. Nuisance barkers should be kept in the car until time for their class, so that trainers can be heard.
  8. Exercise your dogs away from the building.  Any "accident" must be picked up and disposed of properly by the owner or handler of the dog.
  9. Bitches in "season" are allowed at classes.  Please inform the trainer before he/she goes over the bitch.
  10. All dogs must be in crates or on a leash.  The leash must be held by some responsible party, when not in class.  Dogs may not be left unattended.
  11. Only dogs participating in classes are to be in the training area.
  12. Repeated violations of the above rules will be brought to the attention of the Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors has the right to determine what disciplinary action, if any, will be taken.
  13. FEES: Only dogs owned or co-owned by members or children with family memberships may train FREE.  All non-members must pay, regardless of whose dog they are handling.  FEE:  $3.00 per dog.

 

Guidelines for Trainers
